TRAFICO AND WOMEN`S SHOES

Hi all,

I have just been reading the Costa Blanca News Online (11 July issue).

Now here is a warning, from the letters page and confirmed by CB News.

Apparently the Guardia are stopping women and checking their footwear. There is a law that says you must wear suitable shoes when driving.

We all drive in backless or sling back shoes in the summer, BUT apparently this is against the law and women are being fined 150 euros!!!!!!

So hot and sweaty feet it is then, normal shoes for driving and change them when you get out......cheaper than 150 euros!!

Just thought you all might like to know....honest it isn`t a joke read it online!!

Suppose they are short of money again!!!! nice easy way to get some!!

I have today discussed this with our Spanish teacher who is certain that there is no "LAW" regarding full shoes v sandals etc. There is, however a recommendation that you don't do long journeys in mules/sandals. She suggests that if you receive a fine that you challenge it with the relevant authorities before paying it and you could quite easily win the case!

I think (guess) that both are probably right in that the Police ARE giving on the spot fines for backless shoes but they shouldn't be doing so.
Having said that, under the 'ways and means act' if I had wanted to book somebody for strapless shoes it would have been a case of using another regulation to fit the bill.....
The point is...is it easier just to not wear strapless shoes than go through the hassle, time and cost in trying to fight it...methinks so!
